Based on a comparison of 146 countries in 2013, Uzbekistan ranked the highest in onion consumption per capita with 30.3 kg followed by Albania and South Korea. On the other end of the scale was Angola with 0.200 kg, Madagascar with 0.300 kg and Switzerland with 0.400 kg.
Average onion consumption per capita reached 10.8 kg in 2013 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.85 % more than in the previous year and 24.7 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, average onion consumption per capita reached an all time high of 11.2 kg in 2011 and an all time low of 4.09 kg in 1964. The average annual growth amounted to 1.81 % since 1961.
