Current account balance as a share of GDP reached 6.16 % in 2018 in Russia, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 29114 % more than in the previous year.

When compared to Russia's main peers, current account balance as a share of GDP in China amounted to 0.725 %, 8.11 % in Germany, 3.62 % in Japan and -2.51 % in USA in 2018.
Russia has been ranked 24th within the group of 172 countries we follow in terms of current account balance as a share of GDP, 12 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
The current account is one of the two primary components of the balance of payments, the other being the capital account.
