Foreign trade as a share of GDP reached 131 % in 2017 in Bulgaria, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 6.01 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 131 % in 2017 and an all time low of 66.4 % in 1980. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Greece amounted to 67.0 %, 85.0 % in Romania, 114 % in Serbia and 54.1 % in Turkey in 2017.
Bulgaria has been ranked 24th within the group of 165 countries we follow in terms of foreign trade as a share of GDP, 14 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
