Foreign trade as a share of GDP reached 129 % in 2018 in Bulgaria, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 3.13 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 131 % in 2014 and an all time low of 55.3 % in 1995. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Greece amounted to 72.5 %, 87.1 % in Romania, 109 % in Serbia and 62.5 % in Turkey in 2018.
Bulgaria has been ranked 26th within the group of 163 countries we follow in terms of foreign trade as a share of GDP, 11 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
