Government expenditure as a share of GDP reached 34.2 % in 2019 in Kyrgyzstan, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 3.40 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, government expenditure as a share of GDP in Kyrgyzstan reached an all time high of 40.6 % in 2012 and an all time low of 27.9 % in 2008. When compared to Kyrgyzstan's main peers, government expenditure as a share of GDP in China amounted to 34.0 %, 20.2 % in Kazakhstan, 29.5 % in Tajikistan and 28.2 % in Uzbekistan in 2019.
Kyrgyzstan has been ranked 59th within the group of 172 countries we follow in terms of government expenditure as a share of GDP, 20 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Government expenditure (or spending) includes all government consumption and investment but excludes transfer payments made by a state.
