Interest payments on government debt reached JPY 7,550 bil in 2020 in Japan, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 3.08% less than in the previous year.
Historically, interest payments on government debt in Japan reached an all time high of JPY 13,081 bil in 1990 and an all time low of JPY 491 bil in 1972.
