Based on a comparison of 168 countries in 2021, Hong Kong ranked the highest in merchandise trade as a share of GDP with 374% followed by Singapore and Djibouti. On the other end of the scale was Cuba with 8.32%, Ethiopia with 17.9% and Haiti with 20.0%.
