Historically, number of branches in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 5,961 branches in 2008 and an all time low of 2,936 branches in 2016. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, number of branches in Greece amounted to 2,168 branches, 4,596 branches in Romania, 1,627 branches in Serbia and 11,585 branches in Turkey in 2017.
