Foreign trade as a share of GDP fell 6.87% to 129% in Macedonia in 2020, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Macedonia reached an all time high of 139% in 2019 and an all time low of 46.4% in 1991. When compared to Macedonia's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Albania amounted to 61.0%, 109% in Bulgaria, 71.6% in Greece and 75.6% in Kosovo in 2020.
Macedonia has been ranked 20th within the group of 155 countries we follow in terms of foreign trade as a share of GDP, 32 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
