Alior Bank's Cost of Risk (loan loss provisions as % of total assets) amounted to 33.7% in the fourth quarter of 2017, up from 18.6% when compared to the previous quarter.

Historically, the bank’s cost of risk reached an all time high of 33.7% in 4Q2017 and an all time low of 9.35% in 2Q2012. The average cost of risk in the last six quarters amounted to 23.9%.

On the other hand, average asset yield was 5.57% in 4Q2017, down from 6.36% when compared to the same period last year. Cost of funding amounted to 1.32% in 4Q2017, down from 2.16%.

When compared to bank's main peers, PKO BP operated in the fourth quarter of 2017 with a cost of risk of 0.590% Pekao SA reached 0.360% and ING Bank Slaski some 0.357%.

Pekao SA made a net profit of PLN 1,054 mil, up 96.6% when compared to the previous quarter and up 113% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of PLN 1,138 mil in 1Q2008 and an all time low of PLN 270 mil in 3Q2004. The average profit in the last five years amounted to PLN 627 mil.

The bank generated its shareholders an average return on equity of 10.9% in the last five years with maximum at 18.5% and minimum at 6.04%.

When compared to the nearest peers, PKO BP generated a net profit of PLN 820 mil with ROE of 9.16% in 4Q2017, Santander Bank Polska netted PLN 549 mil (ROE of 9.55%) and ING Bank Slaski announced a net profit of PLN 367 mil implying ROE of 12.6%.

Net profit of the Poland’s banking sector amounted to PLN 15,450 mil in 4Q2017, down 5.47% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Pekao SA accounted for 6.82% of the sector’s net profit in 4Q2017. The top 3 companies held a 15.7% share while the five largest firms some 20.1% in 4Q2017.

PKO BP reported total revenues of PLN 3,264 mil, up 2.29% when compared to the previous quarter and up 17.7% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of PLN 3,264 mil in 4Q2017 and an all time low of PLN 1,368 mil in 3Q2004. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to PLN 2,725 mil.

Bank's total revenues accounted for 4.40% of total assets in 4Q2017, up from 3.88% a year earlier.

When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao SA generated total revenues of PLN 2,022 mil, or 4.36% of assets in 4Q2017, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 2,010 mil total income, or 5.27% revenue margin and ING Bank Slaski produced total income worth PLN 1,227 mil, or 3.90% of assets.

Polish banking sector generated total revenues of PLN 46,018 mil in 4Q2017, up 13.1% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 7.09% of the sector’s total income in 4Q2017. The top 3 companies held a 15.9% share while the five largest firms some 21.0% in 4Q2017.

Pekao SA's cost to income ratio reached 42.3% in 4Q2017, down from 44.9% when compared to the previous quarter and down from 45.1% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 62.7% in 3Q2004 and an all time low of 40.3% in 2Q2016.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 4Q2017, up from 1.88% a year earlier.

When compared to the nearest peers, ING Bank Slaski operated in 4Q2017 with a cost to income ratio of 43.1%, Santander Bank Polska reached 43.3% and mBank some 43.3%.
