At the end of 2013, the Bank operated 378 branches and 873 ATMs in Bulgaria and employed over 4,500 persons. The Bank was founded in 1951 and is headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is owned by OTP Bank, Hungary's largest bank.

Sberbank's customer deposits reached EUR 297,711 mil, up from EUR 260,595 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of EUR 297,711 mil in 2017 and an all time low of EUR 27,841 mil in 2001.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, Erste Group Bank's deposits amounted to EUR 150,921 mil at the end of 2017, PKO BP operated with EUR 50,944 mil of customer deposits and Erste Savings Banks had clients' deposits of EUR 42,561 mil at the end of 2017.

UniCredit Bulbank employed 4,149 persons in 2016, down 0.288% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank's workforce hit an all time high of 4,708 persons in 2006 and an all time low of 1,760 in 2004.

Average cost reached BGN 2,643 per month per employee, 0.226% more than a year ago. This figure was BGN 1,512 per month some 10 years ago.

Staff accounted for 47.9% of total operating expenditures in 2016.

Comparing UniCredit Bulbank with its closest peers, Eurobank Bulgaria had 2,200 employees with average cost of BGN 2,577 per month per person, United Bulgarian Bank operated with 2,620 people (and BGN 2,373 per month per employee) and Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria had 2,736 employees in 2016 with cost of BGN 2,290 per month per head.
