Apart from being a leader on the domestic market, the OTP Group currently operates in 8 countries of the CEE region, namely in Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Ukraine, Montenegro and Russia. When compared to the nearest peers, VUB Banka assets amounted to EUR 14,971 mil, Tatra banka operated with EUR 12,503 mil assets and CSOB Slovakia had total assets of EUR 9,221 mil.

Total assets of the Slovak banking sector amounted to EUR 75.8 bil in 2017, up 6.23% when compared to the last year. VUB Banka made a net profit of EUR 175 mil, up 11.6% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of EUR 177 mil in 2011 and an all time low of EUR 31.1 mil in 2001. The average profit in the last five years amounted to EUR 155 mil.

The bank generated its shareholders an average return on equity of 10.6% in the last five years with maximum at 11.2% and minimum at 10.0%.

When compared to the nearest peers, Slovenska Sporitelna generated a net profit of EUR 164 mil with ROE of 12.0% in 2017, Tatra banka netted EUR 124 mil (ROE of 12.5%) and CSOB Slovakia announced a net profit of EUR 70.0 mil implying ROE of 9.22%.

Slovenska Sporitelna reported total revenues of EUR 569 mil, down 5.19% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of EUR 605 mil in 2015 and an all time low of EUR 73.2 mil in 1999. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to EUR 592 mil.

Bank's total revenues accounted for 3.48% of total assets in 2017, down from 4.05% a year earlier.

Postova Banka's loan to deposit ratio reached 56.0% at the end of 2016, down from 60.9% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans to deposits hit an all time high of 64.2% in 2014 and an all time low of 33.6% in 2004.

When compared to the nearest peers, Wustenrot Stavebna Sporitelna ended the year 2016 with loans to deposits at 65.4%, Privatbanka with 65.7% and CSOB Stavebna Sporitelna some 73.1% of loans to deposits at the end of 2016.
